True north …

Tonight we are in Ullapool, ideally placed to catch the 10:30 ferry to Stornoway.  The first image is the view from the B&B window – Waterside House.  The skies are clear, the sunset was spectacular but the temperature remains on the low side of comfortable. Hopefully the isobars will remain well spaced, the winds light and the swell modest. It is 2.5 hours over the sea to Lewis.

Unto the Lord belongs the Earth
And all that it contains
Except the Kyles and Western Isles
For they belong to MacBraynes

Ullapool never disappoints Sue and the Ceilidh Place Restaurant remains as good as ever.

Sunsets courtesy of Fuji Velvia 😉

        Really, slide film?

      • northumbrianlight · April 13, 2016

Just a simulation, Cate – it is one of the Fuji X100s preset filters that works really well. I tend to use it all the time because the extra saturation also enhances conversion to mono.

Wow those skies!!! I love the third one with the patch of blue and the gull flying through the golden light 🙂

I’ve never been to any of these places, only read their names. So beautiful.

Oh I wish we could be there too… I’ve read about this B6B, that’s a super place to stay and to watch the harbour and the ships…

I definitely recommend it – very welcoming, a lovely house and breakfasts to match 😉

Just hope you have all your winter thermals with you!! Those islands might be the most beautiful place in the world but it can be pretty chilly, and windy, at any time of year.

    • northumbrianlight · April 13, 2016

Sound advice Gillean – the sun is shining but the wind is biting. We will not complain though – we will settle for no rain 🙂

Sailing away again, eh? Have a wonderful float. 🙂

Trying my best to catch up on my blog friends… Wonderful photos of a romantic sunset.

    • northumbrianlight · May 18, 2016

Many thanks Malin – don’t worry about trying to catch up, I have been similarly behind, it’s just there is too much to do. As long as everything is fine with your world, that’s all that matters. All the best, R

Fantastic! You can’t beat the north west Highlands on a sunny day. I hope you had a wonderful time on the Western Isles too.
