I have been out of circulation for a few days. We have been on a rail trip to Inverness where we saw every conceivable type of weather except sunshine. It wasn’t until this afternoon that the sun finally emerged over righteous Hexham – it has been a long time coming. Fortunately, I was persuaded to abandon the keyboard for an hour and these are the results which, once again, owe more to Velvia simulation than nature. I like the effect so I have resisted de-saturating:
Despite the sun, in our absence, it would seem that Hexham has had a spot of weather too. Some of the roads are more like rivers:

PS – I am having problems seeing the images on some blogs. Apologies if I seem to be ignoring some postings but I can’t see them either in the reader or directly in the blog.
Lovely photographs… it was sunny here in Kent today.. it was so nice to see the sun…. Let’s hope that this foul weather is over… when countryside is cut off because of floods and roads are impassible… us photographers seem to suffer withdrawal symptoms. 😀
Many thanks – a long dry spell would be grand – how long before the next hosepipe ban I wonder 🙂
I was wondering that today… how long before Southern Water say there is a hosepipe ban… and that we had the wrong sort of rain. Have a good weekend. xx
You too and stay dry 🙂
Looks like a serious bit of weather to me…
It has certainly been a trifle wet but so far nothing like as bad as down south. Much to be said for living at the top of a hill.
Indeed.
These are beautiful, especially the first one (my fav) and they are not overly saturated at all. Well done despite having “every conceivable type of weather except sunshine”. That made me laugh out loud. Nature just loves “teasing” photographers.
Many thanks Cate, mine too – I took about a half dozen to get the sun in exactly the right place. Much to be said for digital 🙂
I’ve had the same problem with photos not showing in blogs. The problem is usually solved by opening the post, and just leaving it for a couple of minutes, then click refresh. Works 99% of the time for me.
Thanks, I will try that.
Very nice.
And yes, WordPress seem to have broken most of the images on my blog at the moment 🙄
Thanks Graham – sorry to hear that – there is definitely something amiss with WordPress image support at the moment.
My problem this time was only with Chrome and was resolved by deleting all WordPress cookies 🙄
Many thanks Graham – just done the same in my Chrome settings and now everything is back to normal.
Beautiful images 🙂
Many thanks, much appreciated
Love the richness of the color in these. Will we be seeing photos of Inverness? I’ve noticed a few annoying bugs in WP at the moment.
Thanks Julie – I will try to work up something from Inverness but it will be a struggle – it was a very wet and dull few days. Glad to see the WP issues are not just me.
Lovely images showcasing a bit of rare Winter sunshine.
How lovely it is to have awoken this morning to brilliant sunshine. It makes one feel so much better and is – hopefully – giving the people badly affected by floods a bit of hope and respite.
Many thanks – Excellent morning here too, even managed 9 holes of golf – our course is on the side of a mountain which helps with drainage 🙂
1. Gorgeous images!
2. I love that song with Beatles and I will sing this for the rest of the evening…
3. I have also noticed the problems on WordPress.
Thanks Malin 🙂 That’s a very infectious track – keeps going around my head too. My problems on a Windows/Chrome platform have been solved by Graham – see comments above.
Infectious indeed… I still have it in my head. 😉
I had Chrome too, but now I have both Chrome and Firefox.
Lovely color!
Many thanks – the X100s is one very clever camera.
I do like a singalong as I wander along a nice lane (keeping a beady eye out for tractors) 🙂
And cars driving through large puddles 😦
thanks for putting the song online, it brought out the sun, amen
