Travel theme: Peaceful

I had been struggling to come up with something for this Travel Theme, then my luck changed.  This afternoon, as we emerged from the National Gallery after seeing Michael Landy’s entertaining, if seriously weird, Saints Alive, we walked into the middle of the 2013 Rathayatra in Trafalgar Square where everyone is invited “to enjoy a taste of the spiritual bliss that is available at this wonderful festival”.  The peaceful atmosphere at this very colourful event seems much enhanced by the availability of a free Vegetarian Prasadam Feast although you would need the patience of a saint to wait in the snaking queues.

I was only carrying a smartphone which means the image quality can suffer but it does feel less intrusive than a DSLR in a crowd – Hare Krishna:

Thanks, it was a very relaxed atmosphere – for a complete contrast we went to see the Bowie exhibition at the V&A today, the absolute opposite of peaceful but really good.

Love the vibrant colours in these photos. Its quite rare to find a peaceful crowd, except around religious sites.

And they looked happy too – the free food probably contributed to the relaxed atmosphere. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
