Travel theme: The Four Elements

I struggled to come up with a set of photographs for this Travel theme; I could find four separate pictures with no connection between them but that didn’t seem very satisfactory. Consequently I have opted to represent all the elements in one photograph; you might have to cut me some slack here but if you look closely they are all present, more or less:

Great HaywoodThe picture was taken below the lock at Great Haywood on the Trent & Mersey canal – click on the image to enlarge.  Here is the same photo with a hint of colour – I could not decide between the two:

I prefer the second one. The color adds depth and still looks vintage.

Thanks, I am warming to the colour version – the best is probably the straight original but I cannot stop myself mucking about 🙂

Beautiful and clever combining all the elements in one. I like the first shot better 🙂

I prefer the colour one. Partially desaturated?

That was part of it Paddy – by the time I have finished I have forgotten exactly what I did which sort of makes it unique 🙂

Yes, I prefer the colour one, and I too like the fact that you’ve found a shot that combines all elements. Very nice.

The images were well worth the struggle! Very, very nice! Robyn

Many thanks Robyn – the real skill was taking the photo whilst at the tiller and facing backwards – some day I will do something or someone serious damage 🙂

I love the sepia version and as you know I went with a single photo for this one too. More challenging – ya done good :0)

I prefer the coloured one, the gentle sunlight is much more present and gives it a nice touch!

Thanks, that one seems to be getting the popular vote – I am glad I posted it now 🙂

I’m going with colour too, but mostly because I think the old canal boats are such vibrant beauties. 🙂

Many thanks for taking the time to look & comment. Next time I think I should try using voting buttons 🙂
